Description

LatimLove is a magazine that engages with contemporary forms of creation, questioning boundaries and embracing the challenge of encompassing a territory as rich and diverse as Latin America through multiple narratives. Created by immigrants, it was born from the desire to keep alive the memories, aesthetics, and flavors of their homelands, grounded in the understanding that decolonial practice also consists of telling one’s own stories.

The first issue brings together sociologists, journalists, photographers, artists, and illustrators in original content, with texts written in Portuguese or Spanish and translated into English. The graphic design seeks to reflect the diversity of Latin cultures and to build a strong identity, evolving from the project’s existing visual language. The magazine is 100% laid out using Latin American typefaces.

The cover features Cristina, a resident of Aglomerado da Serra, photographed in 1987 by Afonso Pimenta for the project Retratistas do Morro. He appears in the magazine in an interview, alongside the Nuevayorkinos project, which forms one of the central sections of this first edition.
