DBA
2020Description
DBA has been operating in the Brazilian editorial market for over 30 years, publishing books on art, photography, gastronomy and the like. Established in these diverse fields, in 2021 the publisher launched a brand exclusively dedicated to a special selection of contemporary literature. With this new demand for communication and catalog structure, the need arose to complement the existing visual identity in order to highlight literature with property. The strategy was to deploy the original brand for a more youthful look that supported standardization, but ensuring that the publications were independent, so that each cover had a unique language. Therefore, a unique style of spine and cover was created, which is repeated in all volumes, taking up the institutional gray, while the covers are freely designed for each publication. For the DBA seal, which stamps the title page and institutional materials, a drawing was made showing three stages of the book’s transformation into a butterfly, symbolizing reading as a potential metamorphosis. The core of the books keeps it classic, favoring a comfortable read, printed on pollen paper, with text composed in serif font and titles in sans serif font — the same as the logo.
